Here I am standing with Kari and Joe before we go off into our canoes. We're standing here with our paddles and remarking on how mine's so much shorter than everyone else's, and a foot shorter than Joe's at that. The length of our paddles was determined by our heights, and I guess this just says something about my 63 inches... (160 cm)
At this point, we've peacefully paddled up Mattaponi, and we've stopped at a dock to eat lunch. (It didn't seem to bother anyone that it was only 10:30 in the morning.) So, this is me sitting with Kari, with me telling Joe to just take the damn picture already.
This is where everything starts to get interesting. A boat capsizes, and students fall out into the murky water... and I caught it all on film. Life just doesn't get any better than this...
After lunch, we did something involving fish and got Joe to kill any spiders that scared me. Then, we canoed farther upstream, and ran into a LOT of kelp. We hate the kelp. Here, we're stuck in the marsh... (my view)
When the kelp got really thick, Kari and I refused to paddle anymore. We'd just wait until everyone else started to turn around. So, here's Kari stuck in the kelp, looking pissed.
